Gloria, true to her era, was big on Lipton Onion Soup Mix. She made pot roast with it, the ubiquitous Onion Dip, Bread - everything but onion soup! That she made from scratch.

2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
1 envelope onion soup mix
About 3 cups all-purpose flour

To 2 cups starter, add sugar, salt, butter, onion soup mix and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead on floured board until smooth, about 15 minutes.

Place in oiled bowl turning the dough once to oil all sides. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, about 11/4 hours.

Punch down. Let rest 15 minutes and shape into loaf.

Place in oiled 9 x 5 inch loaf pan or 1 quart oven proof bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk - about 1 hour.

Bake at 375 about 50 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.
